Godfatherhood

So I'm about a month away from becoming an uncle for the first time, which is tremendously exciting. What makes it even more exciting is that I'm going to be this kid's godfather as well. Which has caused a bit of a conundrum for me.

Y'see, The Godfather is my favorite movie of all time. I've watched it more times than I can count. One of the reasons Farley and I made our attempt at riffing it is because it's so damn good. We figured that it takes true talent to riff something that good (Incidentally, and this has nothing at all to do with the actual content of this post, but I still belive this. Mike and I came up with some funny, funny shit. But a three hour plus movie for two guys who were just getting into this riffing thing? We were in a bit over our heads. But I still believe in us doing this, and trust me, some day, you will be listening to a VIMT4 Godfather track. I promise.). It's a testament to how great this movie is that Farley and I watched it three times in three weeks and I didn't get bored with it once.

One of the best and most memorable scenes from the film is the baptism scene (as illustrated in this wonderful version below, as interperted by Very Incredible Movie Theater 4):

Here's my problem: as I've said, I've seen this movie probably at least fifteen times. I've watched the baptism scene probably at least thirty times as we worked on the riffs for it. Now, in a couple of months, I'll be standing godfather to my beautiful niece, renouncing Satan and all his works, and the whole time, the only thing I'll be able to think is: "Boy, Moe Greene is getting plugged in the eye right about NOW".

And I can't be sure I won't burst out laughing.
